The blues in this piece are so calming.  I had such a chilled Summer painting in Elizabeth's beautiful garden, full of rooms and sculptures, in this case a beautiful Allium, which though they are not seen here you can find them just around the corner (in other paintings).  This is a favourite because of the way it pulls you into the painting, to me it feels like Spring approaching Summer - what a wonderful time of year.

Had you noticed that when framed this art contains... a frame around an artwork which contains a frame, the gazebo, around an artwork, the round allium sculpture? Within a garden which contains alliums... I love this sort of thing! It's why I called the collection 'Nature Framed'.

Care Instructions

The simplest way to clean up an oil or acrylic painting on canvas is to use a white cotton cloth soaked in a gentle soapy water; olive oil–based soap works wonders. You’ll be surprised to see how much grime comes off. Be gentle with paintings with thick impasto, as you do not want to break hardened paint. You might want to use Q-tips and work gently in crevasses.

If the painting still looks grimy, it’s better to see an art restorer that would use a stronger art cleaning product and may reapply pigment colors where need be. It’s surprising how a restored painting can show its true colors just by taking away the accumulation of cigarette or fireplace smoke. If your oil painting shows paint flaking off, it is better to leave the cleaning and restoration to an art restorer.

Many times canvases have become loosened on the stretcher bars. A simple method to retighten the canvas is to spray water on the back of the canvas and leave the piece to dry in the sun for a couple of hours. Canvases are made of fabric, and with time the weave has become loose. This process is safe and will not damage the painting itself.

My inspiration behind Nature Framed and Reflections

I always look for the windows that occur when I'm out and about, sometimes it's nature itself that frames.. An oak overseeing a Rapeseed field, an Avenue formed over a lane or tree leaves framing a scene beyond.

Sometimes it is our landscaping that frames and then nature curls it's way back in and frames again, the Laburnum on an arch frames the bandstand from a distance.

Reflections can be seen both in water naturally or man-made mirrors or reflective surfaces.

It's all about seeing things from a different viewpoint.

And capturing the moment as nature with her seasons is always transient... I love that the more you see, the more you see!
